KARACHI: Dr Usama Sheikh, who conducted the first post-mortem examination of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza, has been removed from his position as a medico-legal officer.
Dr Usama Sheikh has also been directed to appear before an inquiry team. According to officials, the doctor committed serious errors while conducting the post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, geofencing of the crime scene has been carried out as part of the investigation into Mir Raza’s murder. However, the investigation team is facing difficulties in the geofencing process because mobile towers are installed on hills.
According to investigation sources, locations from different blocks of Gulistan-e-Johar are appearing during the geofencing process, resulting in a very large number of mobile numbers being identified.
The investigation team also searched a 500-metre area surrounding the crime scene and collected various pieces of evidence.
The newly formed committee has obtained details from the deceased’s smartwatch, while efforts to retrieve data from the device are continuing.
