U.S. President Donald Trump has announced significant progress with Iran on ending tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and restoring the maritime route.

In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is being lifted. He said ships and their crews stranded there should now prepare to return home.

Trump added that uninterrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz will be ensured and that no toll or additional fee will be charged in the area.

In his post, Trump claimed that most of the mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz had already been neutralized by U.S. minesweepers, while Iran would immediately remove the remaining mines.

According to the U.S. president, enriched uranium buried underground will be extracted and destroyed through close cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Trump also reiterated that Iran must fully agree never to develop nuclear weapons. He said he will chair a high-level meeting in the White House Situation Room to make a final decision on the matter.
