TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye and Oman amid rising regional tensions, discussing the recent escalation between the United States and Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and broader regional security.

According to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Araghchi spoke separately with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The discussions focused on recent regional developments, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

The ministry said all the foreign ministers agreed that diplomatic channels must be used effectively to prevent further escalation in the region and emphasized that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and political means.

During the conversations, Araghchi reaffirmed that Iran is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, national security and regional interests. He also stressed that Tehran would continue its diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability across the region.

Meanwhile, Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by telephone with his Iranian counterpart. The two ministers discussed the current regional situation, the ceasefire, and prospects for reducing tensions.

According to analysts, Iran’s diplomatic outreach to regional countries comes at a time when security concerns across the Middle East and uncertainties surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have led to a noticeable increase in regional diplomatic activity.
