ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to keep the existing prices of petroleum products unchanged for the next three days, with petrol and high-speed diesel rates remaining at their current levels until Monday, August 17.
According to the Petroleum Division, the prices will be reviewed again on August 18, after which the government is expected to announce revised rates.
Officials said the decision to maintain the existing prices over the weekend came after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) did not issue a fresh price review due to the official Independence Day holiday on August 14.
Petrol is currently being sold at Rs325.43 per litre, while high-speed diesel is priced at Rs383.95 per litre. The government had previously increased the price of petrol by 45 paisas per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs1.16 per litre for the period beginning August 14.
The Petroleum Division said the next review of petroleum prices would be conducted on August 18, when any possible changes will be determined.
Since July 20, petrol prices have been reduced 10 times and increased on eight occasions. During the same period, high-speed diesel prices have been reduced six times while witnessing 11 increases.
For now, consumers will continue to pay the existing rates through August 17, with the next decision on petroleum prices due on August 18.
