The federal government has decided to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel, making an important announcement for the public on the third day of Eid.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister had promised the nation that relief would be provided to the people as soon as fiscal space became available, and that promise has been fully implemented.

The statement said the government has decided to reduce the price of petrol by Rs22 and the price of diesel by Rs22.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said providing relief to the public is among his top priorities. He said relief was also given to the people last week when the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced.

The statement added that the federal government has continued providing relief to the public even under the most difficult circumstances, including fuel subsidies for public transport, goods transport, and people using motorcycles and rickshaws.

It further said that while people in other countries of the region were standing in queues to obtain petrol, the public in Pakistan had access to petrol and diesel due to timely measures taken by the prime minister.
