US Vice President JD Vance has said that negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear programme and its stockpile of enriched uranium are continuing, but both sides have not yet reached full agreement on a possible memorandum of understanding.
Speaking to reporters, Vance said Iran appeared to be showing good faith in the talks and that the two countries had come “very close” to an agreement. However, he said it was still too early to say whether President Donald Trump would approve the deal.
According to Vance, the proposed memorandum of understanding has not yet been fully agreed upon, as both sides are still discussing several important words and points.
He said the most sensitive issues in the negotiations include Iran’s nuclear programme, its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, and the future of uranium enrichment.
Vance said the progress made so far was encouraging and expressed hope that further progress could lead President Trump to approve the agreement. However, he avoided giving any guarantee that the two countries would definitely reach a final deal.
