Karachi: The Judicial Magistrate South has issued a written order regarding the murder case registered against inter-provincial drug dealer Anmol, also known as Pinky, at the Baghdadi police station.
According to the written order released following today’s hearing, the magistrate noted that the accused has not lodged any complaint of police torture.
The order states that the investigating officer (IO) requested a physical remand of the accused, claiming that she was operating a major drug network across Pakistan. The IO further informed the court that the deceased was found in possession of drugs allegedly supplied by the accused.
The court acknowledged that further investigation of the accused is essential to apprehend additional suspects. Defense lawyer Meer Hidayatullah Advocate opposed the physical remand, arguing that the accused had no connection with the seized drug parcels.
The written order also records the defense’s argument that no drug containers were found in her possession, and that the accused has been in police custody for the past 22 days and allegedly coerced into giving fabricated statements. The names and brands on the seized parcels, the defense claimed, are forged.
The magistrate noted that the case involves murder, and based on preliminary evidence, further investigation is necessary, while initial evidence appears to be against the accused.
The court granted a two-day physical remand, placing Anmol ‘Pinky’ in the custody of Baghdadi police, and instructed that she be produced in court on May 18. The court also directed the police to conduct a transparent investigation in accordance with the law and submit a progress report.
