An alleged attempt to withdraw Rs5.245 million from the account of the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education was foiled due to the vigilance of bank staff, leading to the arrest of a woman who has been sent to jail on judicial remand.

According to the FIR, the suspect, Qurrat-ul-Ain, visited the bank to obtain a draft in the name of the education board and presented a letter purportedly issued by the board. During the verification process, bank staff identified an error in the amount mentioned in the letter and asked her to have it corrected. A few minutes later, the woman returned with another letter.

The second letter raised further suspicion among the bank staff, who contacted the relevant branch of the Rawalpindi education board for verification. The board confirmed that the letter was fake, after which the police were immediately informed.

Police arrested Qurrat-ul-Ain, who is reported to be a resident of Chakwal district, and presented her before a court, which sent her to jail on judicial remand.

Police are also investigating other aspects of the case, including the possible involvement of facilitators.
