Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that security conditions had reached a point where it was no longer possible to bring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder to Shifa Hospital.

He said doctors were transferred to PIMS Hospital, where the PTI founder was examined. He added that following the Supreme Court’s decision, the government had announced that it would implement the verdict in letter and spirit.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said all preparations had been completed on August 20 to bring the PTI founder to Shifa Hospital. A medical board had been formed, while security arrangements at Shifa Hospital had also been made.

He said doctors had declared the PTI founder’s health satisfactory. The PTI founder left PIMS for Adiala Jail at 5 a.m.

According to Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, circumstances and events developed in such a way that the PTI founder had to be taken to PIMS. He said ensuring the PTI founder’s security was also part of the Supreme Court’s decision.

“We did not take any risk regarding the security of the PTI founder,” he said, adding that the government had made every effort to fulfill its responsibility.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the PTI founder had already been brought to the hospital six times during the previous month even without the Supreme Court’s decision. He said the PTI founder had been examined and treated with the best available medical facilities.

He said the government had never adopted an irresponsible policy regarding the PTI founder’s treatment. He maintained that the PTI founder was completely healthy and said there would be no negligence in his treatment.

The federal minister said the statements made by PTI were contrary to the facts. He said the government was fulfilling its responsibility and would continue to do so in the future.
