Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly criticised the government for not transferring party founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital despite an order from the Supreme Court.

Speaking to the media, Gohar said there was “no ambiguity” in the Supreme Court’s directive and described the failure to implement the order as unfortunate.

“There was no ambiguity in the Supreme Court’s order. It is unfortunate that the court’s directive was not implemented,” he said.

The PTI chairman said his party would continue efforts to resolve political issues through political means, stressing that meaningful negotiations were essential for the functioning of democracy.

“Such negotiations do not take place like this. This is not how democracy works. If it is difficult to implement a court order, how can democracy function?” Gohar questioned.

He said the government’s decision to move Imran Khan to another hospital, coupled with a lack of detailed information, was not what the PTI had expected. He alleged that the Supreme Court’s order had been violated and reiterated that the party wanted political disputes to be resolved through dialogue.

The remarks came after the Supreme Court, three days earlier, ordered that Imran Khan be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for a medical check-up and undergo a comprehensive medical examination.

However, the government transferred the former prime minister to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital on Thursday, where doctors examined him. He was subsequently taken back to Adiala Jail late at night.

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar later said on social media that Imran Khan was completely healthy.

The developments have added to tensions between the government and the PTI, with the opposition party continuing to press for political dialogue while raising concerns over the implementation of judicial directives.
