ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rainfall across upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir today (Monday night) and Tuesday, warning that heavy downpours may trigger landslides in the hilly regions.
The Met Office also warned that low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad may face urban flooding due to heavy rainfall.
According to the PMD, rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and dust storms is expected at isolated places in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, the weather is expected to remain cloudy, with strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall. Heavy rain and hailstorms are also likely during this period.
The PMD said that rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, Hangu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also expected in Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Peshawar, Kurram, Mardan and Swabi.
In Punjab, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Okara, Kasur, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Khanewal.
The Met Office further forecast heavy rainfall and hailstorms in northeastern Punjab and the Potohar region.
