The allotment of an official residence in Islamabad to Justice Babar Sattar of the Peshawar High Court has been cancelled following his transfer from the Islamabad High Court.
According to a notice issued by the Registrar’s Office of the Islamabad High Court, the Estate Office cancelled the allotment of the official residence on July 3 and directed the judge to vacate the house within 30 days.
The notice states that following Justice Babar Sattar’s transfer from the Islamabad High Court to the Peshawar High Court, the Estate Office revoked the allotment of the Islamabad residence. It further says that the one-month notice period to vacate the house would be counted from July 3, the date on which the allotment was cancelled.
According to sources, after his transfer, Justice Babar Sattar chose to retain the official residence in Islamabad instead of taking government accommodation in Peshawar.
Judicial sources said that a judge is entitled to only one official residence. Sources further said that Justice Babar Sattar is currently on judicial leave.
