ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has returned the government’s review petition challenging the decision to transfer PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital after raising objections to the application.
According to sources, the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court had raised objections a day earlier to the government’s review petition against the decision regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to a hospital.
Sources said the objection was related to the review petition not having complete paper books attached to it. The petition will be filed again after the objections raised by the Registrar’s Office are addressed.
The development comes two days after the Supreme Court ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa Hospital. However, despite the court’s order, he has not yet been transferred to the hospital.
Following the Supreme Court’s order, Islamabad Chief Commissioner filed a review petition challenging the decision regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to the hospital through the Advocate General of Islamabad.
The government’s review petition was therefore intended to seek reconsideration of the Supreme Court’s decision ordering Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa Hospital. However, the petition was returned by the Registrar’s Office after objections were raised over the documents submitted with it.

According to the sources, the government will address the objections raised by the Registrar’s Office and subsequently file the review petition again. The petition will therefore undergo the required procedural process before it can be considered further.
The matter concerns the Supreme Court’s earlier order directing the transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital. Despite the order having been issued two days earlier, the transfer had not taken place at the time of the development.
The government had approached the Supreme Court through Islamabad Chief Commissioner and the Advocate General of Islamabad, seeking a review of the decision. The review petition has now been returned with objections concerning the completeness of its paper books.
Once the objections are removed, the review petition is expected to be submitted again. The case will then proceed according to the relevant legal and procedural requirements.
