LAHORE: An inquiry into alleged financial irregularities at the Police Training College Chung has found corruption of more than Rs220 million over a two-year period, involving nine police officials, including former Commandant Mehboob Aslam Lilla, according to inquiry findings.
The inquiry reportedly identified irregularities in the provision of meals to police personnel, contracts and other development and procurement projects at the training college.
Officials allegedly used fake bills and fabricated inspection reports to facilitate the misappropriation of funds, according to the findings.
As part of the departmental action, a DIG has reportedly been posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), while DSP Shahid Javed has been suspended in connection with the matter.

The inquiry concluded that the allegations of corruption were substantiated and recommended that the case be referred to the Anti-Corruption Establishment for further legal action against those found responsible.
The investigation examined financial transactions and projects undertaken at the college during the two-year period and highlighted alleged violations in procurement and payment procedures.
The recommendations now await further action by the relevant authorities, including the Anti-Corruption Establishment, which may determine responsibility and initiate proceedings in accordance with the law.
