The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has formally lodged a complaint with the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over the alleged violation of the prescribed protocol for obtaining confidential information.
According to the details provided, NADRA sent a letter to the FIA Director General stating that the FIA had sent manual letters in connection with requests made by Australian police.
Following NADRA’s letter, the FIA Director General issued strict instructions to all FIA zones, directing FIA circles and offices to send requests to NADRA for obtaining information through the Data Sharing Module portal.
FIA Zones Directed to Follow Data-Sharing Protocol
The FIA Director General, in the order, directed all FIA zones to use the prescribed mechanism for requesting information from NADRA.
Under the instructions, FIA circles and offices will submit requests through the Data Sharing Module portal to obtain the required information from NADRA.
The directive was issued following NADRA’s complaint regarding the use of manual correspondence in connection with requests related to Australian police.
Direct Contact with Departments Barred
The FIA Director General also directed all FIA zones not to contact departments directly for obtaining information.
The order further instructed the FIA to approach NADRA for information through the Anti-Money Laundering Circle.
The instructions were issued to ensure that requests for information are made through the designated mechanism rather than through manual correspondence.
Warning of Strict Action Over Violations
The FIA Director General warned that strict action would be taken against the relevant officials in case of violation of the order.
The order also noted that the use of manual mail for obtaining confidential information carries the risk of leakage of sensitive data.
NADRA’s formal complaint and the subsequent FIA directive have therefore established instructions for FIA offices and circles to use the Data Sharing Module portal when seeking information from NADRA.
