KARACHI: A body found outside a guest house in Gulistan-e-Johar has been identified as that of young trader Mir Raza after DNA samples from the body matched those of his parents.

According to Express News, the Sindh Forensic DNA Laboratory at the University of Karachi issued its report regarding the body recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar. The report confirmed that the body was that of Mir Raza, as DNA samples obtained from the body matched the DNA of his parents.

In the high-profile murder case of the young trader, police officers had earlier expressed concerns that the recovered body might not be that of Mir Raza and that the face of another person’s body may have been disfigured before it was dumped.

As part of the murder investigation, the body was exhumed and samples were collected for DNA testing. The DNA report has now ruled out the earlier concern over the identity of the body.

Meanwhile, a Judicial Magistrate East ordered that a report in the Mir Raza murder case be submitted by August 15.

The case came up for hearing before the Judicial Magistrate East, where the former investigation officer appeared before the court and sought more time to submit the report.

The investigation officer told the court that investigations into the case were continuing. He said senior officials had changed the investigation officer of the case and that the new investigation officer would appear at the next hearing.

The court accepted the investigation officer’s request and ordered the report to be submitted by August 15.
