PESHAWAR: The death toll from monsoon rains and flash flood-related incidents in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 28 since July 19, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The PDMA said that 19 people were also injured in different rain-related incidents during the ongoing spell of monsoon weather.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, the fatalities reported over the past five days include three women and 15 children, highlighting the severe human impact of the heavy rains and flash floods.
The spokesperson added that the disaster has also caused significant damage to residential properties. Ten houses were completely destroyed, while 47 houses sustained damage, including 37 that were partially damaged due to the heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

The rains and flash floods affected several districts across the province, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral, Dir, and Abbottabad.
Damage caused by the monsoon rains was also reported from Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, and Waziristan, where rain-related incidents were recorded during the ongoing weather spell.
