MIRPUR: Internet services have started to resume in the Mirpur Division of Azad Kashmir after remaining suspended for the past 47 days.
Internet services in the Mirpur Division had been suspended for the last 47 days and have now begun to be restored.
Internet services have also been restored in the Kotli Division after 43 days.
It is pertinent to mention that the government had imposed internet restrictions across Azad Kashmir due to the deteriorating law and order situation, causing severe difficulties for the public.
A day earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had said that phone and internet services had remained suspended in Azad Kashmir for 40 days. He questioned how an election campaign could be conducted on digital media under such circumstances.
He further said that while limited internet restrictions could be imposed in areas facing law and order issues, shutting down internet services across the whole of Azad Kashmir conveys a message of collective punishment.
