The Federal Investigation Agency’s Islamabad Zone has uncovered an alleged organ trafficking network during an operation in Islamabad, arresting nine suspects, including a doctor.
According to the FIA, those arrested include a urologist and an employee of a private hospital. The suspects are allegedly involved in illegal kidney transplant procedures.
Sources said the urologist is being described as the central figure in the illegal network. An FIA team raided a well-known private hospital in Islamabad, where illegal kidney removal operations were allegedly being performed.
The FIA also arrested alleged kidney donors, recipients and members of the hospital staff during the operation.
Sources said the arrested suspects have been shifted to the FIA office for further investigation. The network allegedly targeted poor people from underdeveloped districts of South Punjab, particularly Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
