Karachi: Tahir Naveed, also known as Polka, the dangerous prisoner who escaped from Karachi’s Malir Jail, has been apprehended by law enforcement agencies. The suspect, wanted for serious crimes including murder and abduction, was captured during a joint operation carried out based on a tip-off near the Landhi Railway Station.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Shah Latif Police, and Jail Police collaborated in the operation, successfully arresting the fugitive. According to authorities, the operation was based on confidential information, which led them to the vicinity of Landhi Railway Station, where the suspect was taken into custody. Jail police officers at the scene identified the arrested individual as Tahir Naveed.

Police confirmed that Tahir Naveed, also known as Polka, had escaped from Malir Jail on May 9. At the time of his escape, he was facing serious charges of murder and abduction and had multiple cases registered against him at Shah Latif Town Police Station.

Sources also revealed that Tahir Naveed’s name had surfaced in the investigation of the murder case of senior journalist Shahid Wali Babar.

Authorities stated that the fugitive had managed to escape during a special event at the jail, taking advantage of the presence of guests to flee the facility.

Following his arrest, Tahir Naveed was transferred to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

In response to the re-arrest of the notorious criminal, Sindh’s Minister for Prisons, Ali Hassan Zardari, expressed his satisfaction, asserting that escaping the law is impossible. He further stated that state institutions are fully active in ensuring public safety and are tightening the noose around criminal elements through joint operations.
