Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday said that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s thinking was “outdated” and that using the word “cockroaches” for young people was inappropriate.
Speaking to the media during the annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) in Bhit Shah, the chief minister expressed his views on the teachings of the great Sufi saint, Kashmir, the proposal for new provinces, youth, motorway funds, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), employees’ rights and other issues.
Murad Ali Shah said it was a privilege for him to attend the Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA). He said the great Sufi poet preached peace, love, brotherhood and humanity, and that his message served as a guiding light for all mankind.
He said Sindh is the land of Sufi saints and spiritual leaders, adding that Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA), through his poetry, promoted the values of love, tolerance and harmony. The chief minister prayed that Allah Almighty bless everyone with a life of peace, prosperity and mutual love, and that peace, brotherhood and unity always prevail in the country.
Speaking about Kashmir, Murad Ali Shah said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had taken a clear stance in support of the Kashmiri people and was raising his voice for their rights and welfare. He said the PPP had always stood by the people of Kashmir and, from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to President Asif Ali Zardari, the party had consistently remained the voice of Kashmir.
He added that the PPP had always adopted a principled position on the Kashmir issue, raised its voice at every level and made sacrifices for the cause.
The chief minister also said the electoral process scheduled for August 2 and August 10 should be transparent. He urged the Election Commission and the administration to ensure that the people of Kashmir are able to vote freely so they can exercise their democratic right without fear.
Commenting on the proposal for new provinces, Murad Ali Shah said Mohsin Naqvi’s thinking was outdated. He said Mohsin Naqvi had put forward several proposals, and this was one of them.

He said Sindh is the land of Sufis and its people would not accept such a proposal. He added that the people of Sindh are united in protecting the province’s interests and would reject any such suggestion.
Talking about the country’s youth, the chief minister said young people are the future and valuable asset of Pakistan, and they will lead the country in the years ahead. He said encouraging and supporting the youth remains a priority of the government.
Murad Ali Shah also said it was inappropriate to use the word “cockroaches” for young people, adding that the youth are the guarantee of Pakistan’s bright future.
