Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers have called for an urgent hearing of a contempt of court case, raising the matter with the registrar of the Supreme Court.

In Islamabad, PTI lawyers Faisal Malik and Naeem Panjutha met with the Supreme Court registrar and requested that the contempt case be scheduled for an early hearing.

The registrar reportedly told the lawyers that a second application could not be accepted on the same grounds on which the first application had been rejected.

The registrar, however, assured the lawyers that the second application would be reviewed if it had been filed on new grounds.

The meeting focused on the PTI legal team’s request for an early hearing, with the registrar’s office indicating that the maintainability of the fresh application would depend on whether it was based on grounds different from those cited in the previously rejected plea.
