Heavy rains and flash floods have caused widespread destruction across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, damaging homes, mosques, crops and infrastructure.

In Chitral, flash floods damaged several houses and mosques, while road closures disrupted transportation and cut off access to affected areas. Standing crops and orchards also suffered severe losses due to the flooding.

Torrential rains also triggered flooding in streams and seasonal waterways in Swat, Bajaur and Abbottabad. In Bajaur, accumulated rainwater in low-lying areas disrupted traffic and affected the movement of residents.

Following a rise in water levels in the Swat River and Jambil Khwar, rescue teams have been placed on high alert. At Charbagh, several children who became stranded in the river were safely rescued. In Abbottabad, a vehicle was swept away by flash floods on Mansehra Road.

In Upper Dir, 28 female students were injured after panic broke out when lightning struck near a madrasa. According to Rescue officials, the incident occurred in the Asorai Dara area of Wari. All the injured students were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Astore district, torrential rains also caused streams and seasonal waterways to overflow, creating a flood-like situation in the area.
