LAHORE: A District Police Officer (DPO) had to formally apologize after failing to salute members of the Punjab Assembly while appearing before the Assembly’s Privileges Committee.
According to details, the Punjab Assembly’s Privileges Committee held a meeting during which members objected to the manner in which the DPO entered the committee room after being summoned over a privilege motion. Lawmakers protested that the uniformed police officer did not salute the members of the Assembly upon entering.
One member of the Assembly said that it is a matter of respect for the House and its traditions that a uniformed officer should salute Assembly members when entering the chamber. The lawmaker also announced that he would leave the meeting in protest.

The DPO admitted his mistake and offered an unconditional apology to the members of the Assembly.
Following the apology, the matter was resolved amicably during the Privileges Committee meeting.
