MASTUNG: Six people, including three police personnel, were injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on the convoy of Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langau in Mastung district. The provincial home minister remained safe in the attack.

According to police, the firing took place in the Khadkocha Guru area of Mastung district when Zia Langau’s convoy was travelling from Kalat to Quetta.

Police officials said the injured personnel included Nasrullah, Samiullah and Zakaria. They were shifted to Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Hospital and, after receiving initial medical treatment, were taken to Quetta.

The injured police personnel were stated to be out of danger.

Speaking after the attack, Zia Langau said such “cowardly attacks” could not weaken their resolve.

“I cannot be frightened by these firecrackers,” Langau said.

He said such attacks could neither undermine their determination nor end their love for Pakistan.

“Pakistan Zindabad was, Pakistan Zindabad is, and Pakistan Zindabad will remain,” he said.

Separately, Adviser on Home Affairs Babar Yousafzai said Zia Langau’s convoy was subjected to a “cowardly attack” in Mastung by “Fitna al-Hindustan”.

He said the brave police personnel successfully repelled the attack by the terrorists, forcing the attackers to flee.
