The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recovered an additional Rs211.376 million in the province’s major Kohistan mega financial corruption scandal.
According to NAB, the recovered amount was obtained from five alleged benamidars (front persons) of accused Doraj Khan and has been deposited with Accountability Court No. III in Peshawar. The bureau described the recovery as a significant development in the ongoing investigation.
NAB sources said that 42 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the Kohistan mega scandal. Of these, six accused have entered plea bargain agreements involving a total recovery of Rs8.43 billion. In addition, the accused and their alleged benamidars have surrendered assets worth Rs1.70 billion.
The bureau further stated that additional plea bargain applications are currently under consideration and will soon be presented before the accountability court for final approval.

According to NAB, assets worth more than Rs27.16 billion have so far been frozen in connection with the mega scandal. These include cash, foreign currency, gold, commercial and residential properties, luxury farmhouses, and high-end vehicles.
