LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has ordered the registration of a criminal case against the concerned Crime Control Department (CCD) officers for allegedly taking a citizen into custody outside a jail.
Justice Amjad Rafiq issued a written order on a petition filed by Maqsooda Bibi. According to the petitioner, citizen Gulfam Ali was released from jail on June 27, 2026, but was taken into custody immediately after his release by individuals dressed in plain clothes.
The petitioner also informed the court that CCTV footage and other evidence related to the incident are available.
Following the court’s directions, CCD Defence Lahore Inspector Akhtar Ali submitted a report. The court noted that the CCD stated in its report that the accused had been arrested in connection with a case registered in Okara.

However, the court observed that the video evidence contradicted the CCD’s report. It further stated that submitting a false report to the court and illegally detaining a citizen constitute cognizable offences.
The court directed the DPO Okara to register a case against the concerned officer and submit a compliance report.
