Rawalpindi: Fourteen prisoners escaped from a prison van near Chakian Post in the Kahuta area while they were being transported to Rawalpindi.

Immediately after the incident, Kahuta Police launched a swift operation and succeeded in re-arresting four of the escaped prisoners. A search operation is currently underway to trace and apprehend the remaining fugitives.

According to authorities, the prison van had been stopped for checking when one of the prisoners threw chili powder into the eyes of police personnel, enabling the escape.

Police have cordoned off the area and established checkpoints at various locations. Senior police officers have also reached the scene and are personally supervising the ongoing search operation.

Following the incident, security has been further tightened in Chakian and surrounding areas, while efforts continue to arrest the remaining escaped prisoners.
