Karachi: A major attempt to smuggle narcotics into Karachi using a rickshaw was foiled by Shah Latif Town Police, leading to the arrest of three key suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of drugs concealed in secret compartments of the vehicle.

According to details, Shah Latif Town Police conducted a successful targeted operation based on confidential information and thwarted an attempt to distribute high-quality narcotics that had been brought to Karachi from Peshawar.

During the operation, police recovered drugs worth millions of rupees from hidden compartments specially built inside a rickshaw and arrested three suspects red-handed.

SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said the raid was carried out by the SHO of Shah Latif Town when the suspects were on their way to supply and sell narcotics through the rickshaw.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 24 kilograms of high-quality hashish concealed in specially designed secret compartments inside the rickshaw.

Police arrested three suspects identified as Azmat Khan, Akhtar Munir and Imran Gul. Mobile phones and cash were also recovered from their possession, while the rickshaw used for transporting the narcotics was taken into custody.

SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said the arrested suspects confessed during interrogation that they had been operating an organized and covert drug distribution network across different areas of Karachi.

According to the suspects, the narcotics were transported from Peshawar to Karachi and were intended to be supplied and sold to local drug dealers in various parts of the city through the rickshaw.

Police officials said a case is being registered against the suspects in accordance with the law. The accused have been handed over to the investigation wing for further inquiry and efforts to arrest other members of the network.
