Tunisia have dismissed their national football team head coach Sabri Lamouchi after only one match in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The 54-year-old coach’s position had already come under pressure following Tunisia’s heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the tournament.
Played in Monterrey, the match saw Sweden dominate throughout as they registered a one-sided victory, marking a strong start to their World Cup campaign.
Following the crushing defeat, the Tunisia Football Federation issued an official statement confirming Lamouchi’s removal. The statement said the decision to part ways with the coach was taken by mutual agreement.

According to the federation, Mondher Kebaier has been appointed as the interim head coach of the national team. He will take charge of Tunisia for the remaining matches of their World Cup campaign.
The sudden change in coaching staff after just one game has added further turmoil to Tunisia’s already difficult World Cup journey.
