First case over alleged vote forgery involving a government employee has been registered during the campaign for the 2026 general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to a First Information Report filed at City Police Station Chilas in Diamer district, Khush Muhammad, an Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate from Tangir and nephew of former chief minister Gulbar Khan, has been nominated in the case.
The FIR stated that a fake SSP stamp had allegedly been prepared, after which police took action.
The complainant maintained that the accused prepared a ballot paper by using a fake official stamp and submitted it along with a copy of the complainant’s identity card.
The complainant requested action against the accused.

Police said further investigation into the fake documents case is underway. They added that no one is above the law and action will be taken against those involved in forgery.
Gilgit-Baltistan’s general elections are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
