Lahore has imposed a complete ban on the entry of vehicles carrying animals on motorways during Eidul Azha to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow.

The decision has been taken to prevent accidents and keep traffic moving on motorways during the Eid period.

A spokesperson for the Central Region said overloaded and unfit vehicles can cause serious accidents. Vehicles loaded with animals will be diverted to alternative and safer routes.

The spokesperson said several dangerous accidents have already occurred on motorways due to such vehicles. The purpose of the ban is to prevent accidents and maintain traffic flow on motorways.

Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have been directed to set up check posts at entry points. The Central Region said action has also been ordered against illegal parking near cattle markets and interchanges.

Authorities said strict legal action will be taken over violations of traffic rules and loading standards.

Meanwhile, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet tomorrow to sight the Zilhaj moon. Astronomers have said there are clear chances of the moon being sighted tomorrow, according to which Eidul Azha will be celebrated on May 27.
