The Federal Constitutional Court has ordered the Supreme Court of Pakistan to provide the complete record of relevant cases concerning PTI founder Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi and others for the hearing of pending petitions.
In its written order, the Federal Constitutional Court observed that the questions raised in the petitions arose from an order issued by the Supreme Court on August 18, 2026, in Criminal Appeal No. 400/2025 and other connected cases. The court said it had therefore become necessary to examine those cases alongside the petitions before it.
The order states that, exercising powers under Article 175E(5) of the Constitution, the court has sought the complete record of the relevant cases pending before the Supreme Court.
The cases include Criminal Appeal No. 400/2025, Mishal Azam v. Ghafoor Anjum, Superintendent Central Jail Adiala and others; Criminal Appeal No. 17/2026, Salman Akram Raja v. Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha and others; Criminal Miscellaneous Application No. 1696/2026, Uzma Khan v. District Election Commissioner Islamabad; Criminal Petition for Leave to Appeal No. 1370/2026, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi v. District Election Commissioner Islamabad; and Criminal Petition for Leave to Appeal No. 1501/2023, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi v. District Election Commissioner Islamabad.
The court also sought the records of Criminal Miscellaneous Application No. 2033/2026, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory v. Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi and others; Criminal Original Petition No. 8/2026, Uzma Khan v. Lieutenant (Retd.) Sohail Ashraf and others; and Criminal Original Petition No. 9/2026, Uzma Khan v. Lieutenant (Retd.) Sohail Ashraf and others.
The written order further stated that if any other connected case is pending, its record should also be obtained.
The court directed the Registrar’s Office to requisition the records of the aforementioned cases from the Supreme Court of Pakistan through its Registrar and have them fixed for hearing along with the appeals arising from the petitions.
