TAXILA: Police have claimed to have solved the murder case of social media personality Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulmana, arresting five suspects, including her father and brother, in connection with the killing.
Speaking at a press conference, SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob said police traced the suspects with the help of more than 100 CCTV cameras and human intelligence.
According to the police officer, the suspects allegedly attempted to stage a drama after the murder in an effort to mislead investigators and evade the law. However, investigators identified inconsistencies in the case and, after examining available evidence, arrested all five suspects.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Shamsu Bibi was allegedly killed in the name of so-called honour. Police said family members were unhappy with her presence and activities on social media.
The SSP Operations said the murder case was initially registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, who had also nominated two suspects. Investigators later questioned the victim’s sister, who was injured in the incident, and concluded that members of the victim’s own family were allegedly involved in the killing.

Malik Tariq Mehboob said the complainant had allegedly confessed to the murder, describing it as unusual for a person involved in a crime to initially become the complainant in the same case. He said the victim’s father, who had initially approached police as the complainant, was now himself being treated as a suspect.
Police officials said further investigation is underway. Investigators are questioning the arrested suspects to determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing, establish the roles of each accused and uncover any additional motives or details related to the case.
