Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has filed a damages suit against journalist Tariq Mateen and former minister Shehbaz Gill before the Sessions Court in Lahore.

The provincial information minister filed the suit under the Punjab Defamation Act 2024, alleging that both individuals spread false and fabricated material against her on social media.

In her petition, Uzma Bukhari maintained that Tariq Mateen and Shehbaz Gill had, without justification, engaged in character assassination against her, causing damage to her honour and reputation.

The provincial minister has requested the court to order the immediate removal of all defamatory material posted against her by the two respondents.

She has also requested the court to impose heavy fines on both individuals for defamation and take strict legal action against them.
