PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has urged the rulers and decision-makers to “open their eyes” before September 27 and steer the country towards justice and the supremacy of the Constitution and law, warning that otherwise the situation could become difficult to control.
Speaking to the media while participating in a sit-in outside the Supreme Court, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said concerning reports were emerging about Imran Khan’s health and that the nation had serious concerns regarding his condition.
He said neither they nor Imran Khan had ever sought to politicise his health or use his medical condition to obtain any relief.
Afridi said it was therefore necessary to take the issue of Imran Khan’s health seriously and demonstrate “moral courage” by accepting the demand that he be treated under the supervision of his personal physicians in the presence of his family.
The chief minister said that during his tenure in government, Imran Khan had allowed Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad for medical treatment despite questions having been raised over what Afridi described as “fake medical certificates” concerning the former prime minister.
He said Imran Khan was aware of those issues but had allowed Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad for treatment on humanitarian grounds.

Afridi claimed that Imran Khan was now being denied basic human rights and justice, describing the situation as “extremely concerning and unacceptable”.
He further alleged that Imran Khan had been unjustly imprisoned in “fabricated cases”, while his opponents had been involved in corruption cases.
Afridi accused Khan’s opponents of committing corruption, buying islands abroad and looting the country and the nation’s money.
He warned those he accused of committing injustices that no one could escape the consequences of their actions and that they would have to account for what they had done.
