Lahore: New details have emerged regarding the alleged rape of a girl by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Lahore and the subsequent suspension of an entire police station.
According to details, a beggar girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside Ghaziabad Police Station. ASI Imran reportedly brought the girl to the police station on his motorcycle.
According to the information, the sentry posted at the station gate asked the ASI about the woman. ASI Imran allegedly replied that she was an accused and had been brought to the station for investigation. He then reportedly took the girl to the investigation room, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Police said that after the alleged assault, the ASI himself dropped the girl back. Meanwhile, the girl’s family had gone to the police station to file a complaint about her alleged abduction. During that time, they received a phone call from home informing them that the girl had returned.
Following the arrest of the ASI, the Investigation Incharge was suspended. After the alleged sexual assault inside Ghaziabad Police Station, the Station House Officer (SHO) and the entire police station staff were suspended.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran has ordered the registration of the suspension report of 78 police personnel. According to the information, the girl who was allegedly assaulted is mentally challenged.
According to DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, various police units perform duties within a police station; however, maintaining overall discipline and the working environment is the primary responsibility of the SHO. He stated that every activity taking place inside the police station should be within the knowledge of the SHO.
