The Senate Standing Committee on Interior has unanimously approved the Members of Parliament Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill 2026, which includes a recommendation for the issuance of blue passports to the children of members of Parliament.
The committee meeting, chaired by Faisal Saleem Rehman, unanimously passed the amendment bill. The proposal to issue blue passports to the children of parliamentarians was included as part of the legislation.
Presenting the bill, Senator Abdul Qadir said that there would be no issue if two to four children of Senate members were issued blue passports. He proposed that dependent children of members of Parliament who are under the age of 28 should be eligible for blue passports and called for an amendment to the existing law to facilitate this.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry suggested that the bill should first be sent to the cabinet. However, Senator Abdul Qadir argued that the bill had no connection with the cabinet. Following the discussion, the committee approved the bill by consensus.
Talal Chaudhry also stated that matters relating to blue passports and diplomatic passports have an impact on the country’s passport ranking.
